How to read this page

  • OfficialPublished by the authority that sets the rule. Confirm the current figure on the source before acting.
  • EstimateA planning figure built from ranges and typical student spending. Not a quotation and not policy.

The full Sweden hub โ€” admissions, visa steps, city costs and student life โ€” is being written. The figures above are verified essentials; confirm them on the official immigration and university portals before making decisions.

Admission process

What is the deal with the 15 January Swedish deadline?

Sweden runs one national application on universityadmissions.se, closing mid-January for August entry, with a mandatory application fee and a hard document deadline.

  1. 1

    Apply on universityadmissions.se

One account, up to four programme choices ranked in order of preference. The autumn round opens in mid-October and closes 15 January.

  2. 2

Pay the SEK 900 application fee

Non-EU applicants must pay the fee before the documentation deadline or the application is never assessed.

  3. 3

Upload documents before the February deadline

Transcripts, degree certificate and IELTS must arrive by the supporting-documents deadline in early February. Late documents are not considered.

  4. 4

    Apply for scholarships separately

The Swedish Institute Scholarship and university tuition waivers have their own applications in January and February โ€” they are not automatic.

  5. 5

Accept and apply for the residence permit

Accept in April, pay the first tuition instalment, then apply to Migrationsverket showing SEK 10,584 per month for the study period.

What quietly costs students an intake in Sweden

  • Ranking programmes carelessly โ€” you are only offered your highest qualifying choice.
  • Paying the fee after the deadline.
