Writing standard

SEO decides what a page must answer. It never decides how it reads.

Every guide on this site is written the way a counsellor would explain the decision on a call: the real question first, the honest answer second, the exceptions before the encouragement. This page is the standard we hold ourselves to, published so you can hold us to it too.

Voice

How the writing is supposed to sound

No corporate register, no empty adjectives, no reassurance that isn't earned by a fact.

Conversational

Write the sentence you would say out loud on a call.

Direct

Answer first. Context second.

Practical

Numbers, sequences and documents, not adjectives.

Experienced

Name the mistake students actually make.

Nuanced

Say what the answer depends on instead of flattening it.

Honest

Where the honest answer is 'it depends on your nationality', say so.

Reassuring

Calm, without a single promise we cannot keep.

Student-focused

Written to the person making the decision.

Parent-aware

Money, safety and outcomes get addressed plainly.

The answer shape

  1. 1Student questionThe question in the words the student used.
  2. 2Clear answerGiven immediately, even when it is 'it depends'.
  3. 3ContextWhy the answer is what it is.
  4. 4Important exceptionsThe cases where the answer flips.
  5. 5Practical implicationWhat this changes about money, timing or documents.
  6. 6Next decisionThe one thing to decide next, not a link dump.

What we refuse to publish: keyword, definition, keyword, bullet list, keyword, FAQ.

What SEO is allowed to decide

  • What question the page must answer
  • Which related questions belong on the same page
  • Which entities to mention
  • Which existing pages to link
  • What the title and H1 must communicate
  • What competing coverage leaves out

And what it never decides

  • Sentence structure or paragraph length
  • How often a keyword appears
  • Whether a section exists at all
  • Whether a fact is stated with more certainty than the source supports

Language rules

Openings, phrases and claims we do not use

An article that starts by telling a student that studying abroad is exciting has already wasted the only two sentences they were going to read.

Banned openings

  • โ€œstudying abroad isโ€ฆโ€
  • โ€œstudying abroad hasโ€ฆโ€
  • โ€œeurope has becomeโ€ฆโ€
  • โ€œeurope is one ofโ€ฆโ€
  • โ€œgermany is known forโ€ฆโ€
  • โ€œgermany is one of the most popularโ€ฆโ€
  • โ€œin today's worldโ€ฆโ€
  • โ€œin this articleโ€ฆโ€

Article system validation

Every guide graded against the three exemplars

Not a prose review โ€” a check that the article engine itself holds. Each guide is graded A to D on whether it carries a genuine question, a direct answer, the exceptions, the practical consequence, sourcing, a next decision and link-outs that actually serve that decision. Nothing is rewritten automatically.

Benchmark

The three upgraded guides all grade A on the same criteria applied to everything else, so the standard is repeatable rather than hand-made.

Grades are structural, not stylistic. A B-grade guide is publishable and useful; it is simply short of the exemplar pattern on a named element. Nothing on this table is rewritten in bulk โ€” each fix is an editorial decision.

Automated read

How the writing itself reads

A heuristic pass over every published guide. It cannot judge whether writing is good; it only catches the patterns that make writing read like it was produced for a search engine.

Briefs

What gets decided before anyone writes

Intent, the questions to answer, the entities to name and the links to use are settled first. The brief stays internal โ€” it is a planning document, not content.

Will a Three-Year Indian Bachelor's Get You Into a German Master's?

Eligibility ยท Shortlisting ยท cluster Germany โ€” Admissions

Target reader. Indian graduate with a 3-year BSc/BCom/BA deciding whether Germany is even open to them

Must answer

  • Is a three-year degree accepted at all?
  • How do I check my own university and degree rather than guess?
  • What makes one three-year degree acceptable and another not?
  • What do I do if anabin does not put me in the clear?

Gap we are filling. Most pages say 'usually not accepted' or 'usually accepted'. Neither tells the student how to check their own case, or what to do when the answer is no.

Cannibalization risk. Low โ€” APS page answers a document process; this page answers a qualification question. Keep the APS explanation here to two sentences and link out.

Anchors to use

  • โ€œhow the APS check actually works for Indian applicantsโ€ โ†’ /blog/aps-certificate-explained
  • โ€œwhat a year in Germany really costs once the blocked account is includedโ€ โ†’ /blog/cost-of-studying-in-germany

Sources required. anabin (KMK); APS India; Programme admission page of at least one named university ยท re-checked on the admission requirements cadence

Cost of Studying in Germany: A Realistic Monthly and Annual Breakdown

Cost ยท Shortlisting ยท cluster Germany โ€” Cost

Target reader. Student and parent arranging the first-year cash, often underestimating the upfront lump sum

Must answer

  • What do I pay the university?
  • What does a month actually cost in a cheap city versus Munich?
  • How much cash do I need before I fly?
  • Can part-time work be counted in the budget?

Gap we are filling. Competing pages publish a single monthly average for the whole country and ignore the first-payment cluster before departure.

Cannibalization risk. Medium โ€” Cheapest-countries page ranks Europe-wide and must not repeat the German city table; the calculator owns the interactive estimate.

Anchors to use

  • โ€œwhy the blocked account is the figure that catches families outโ€ โ†’ /blog/blocked-account-explained
  • โ€œbuild the number for your own city and lifestyleโ€ โ†’ /costs

Sources required. Federal Foreign Office blocked-account figure; Studentenwerk rent ranges; State tuition rules ยท re-checked on the financial requirements cadence

Cheapest Countries to Study in Europe: What the Numbers Actually Mean

Country comparison ยท Exploring ยท cluster Europe โ€” Cost

Target reader. Budget-led student open on country, comparing tuition instead of total first-year outlay

Must answer

  • Cheap by which measure โ€” tuition, proof of funds or rent?
  • Which countries are cheap once all four costs are added?
  • Where do budget assumptions usually break?

Gap we are filling. Listicles rank by tuition only, so Germany always appears first and the upfront liquidity difference is never shown.

Cannibalization risk. Low

Anchors to use

  • โ€œput two countries side by side on money and work rightsโ€ โ†’ /compare
  • โ€œthe German numbers in fullโ€ โ†’ /blog/cost-of-studying-in-germany

Sources required. Per-country financial-proof figures; Public tuition schedules ยท re-checked on the living cost estimates cadence

Human check, before publishing

  • Does this sound like a counsellor who has answered the question many times?
  • Is the student's actual question answered in the first two paragraphs?
  • Is there filler that could be cut without losing anything?
  • Are paragraphs unnaturally uniform in length?
  • Are keywords forced anywhere?
  • Is anything repeated between sections?
  • Are facts and estimates visibly different?
  • Is every claim supported by a source or clearly marked as judgement?
  • Would a student find this more useful than a generic SEO article?

SEO check, after the writing

  • Search intent matches the page's actual answer
  • Primary keyword reads naturally in the title and H1
  • Secondary terms appear only where the sentence needed them
  • Relevant entities named (country, university, authority, document)
  • Meta description written for a human, not lifted from paragraph one
  • URL, canonical and breadcrumb consistent
  • Internal links use varied, descriptive anchors
  • One cluster, one parent, no cannibalization
  • Schema only where the visible content supports it
  • Sources attached and freshness cadence set

If an SEO recommendation and an accurate sentence conflict, the sentence wins. Nothing here is immigration advice, and no page promises an outcome. See how each page is registered and sourced.
